CLAW CLAW started off as small design studio in Brooklyn, NY by Ray Jones and Shanon Weltman, with webcoding by Sophat Sam. Over year one it evolved into an online art magazine that spotlights weekly artist interviews and art events, talking about what it’s really like out there in the world to be a working artist today.
Shanon Weltman / Founder
Shanon Weltman is an artist living in Brooklyn, and teaches art at various schools in Harlem and the Lower East Side, NYC. Also currently a student at NYU for her Masters in Art Education, she’s got a lot to balance, but she’s a Capricorn, she’s got this. Her brand Shanon Diamond has been sold at Cotton Candy Machine’s Roebling Fair, Better Than Jam, Brooklyn Collective, and her online shop.
Ray Jones / Founder
Born in Florida, Artist and Illustrator Ray Jones now lives in Brooklyn and teaches at the Harlem School of the Arts. A graduate of SVA’S MFA Illustration program (2009), Ray also works as a freelance illustrator and designer. His work can be found in a variety of publications, including The New York Times, The Seattle Stranger, Vooy’s, Carrier Pigeon Magazine, Sony UK, Esquire Russia, QN5 Music.
Sophat Sam / Web Coder
Sophat Sam grew up in Lowell, MA and found his love for technology and design in his early teens, learning to use Photoshop and creating numerous websites while in high school. He pursued this love at Hampshire College, a small liberal arts school in idlyic western Massachusetts.
Genna Rivieccio / Writer
Genna Rivieccio is a Taurus, and therefore loves decadence. Tragically, writing is her passion, a job that pays very little and cannot accommodate her luxury needs. She has written for The Toast, The Airship, Culled Culture, The Burning Bush,Missing a Dick and Behind the Hype.
